WE ARE NEVER ALONE
When he came upon a certain shrine, as the sun had already set, he stopped there for the night. Taking one of the stones at the shrine, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep at that spot. Then he had a dream: a stairway rested on the ground, with its top reaching to the heavens; and God's messengers were going up and down on it. (Genesis 28: 11-12).
MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT
Between heaven and earth the angels of the Lord come and go; from exalted glory to the hearts of men. This coming and going is never interrupted because God sends his angels without pause to guard us and help us in dangers and adversities. They return to heaven with all our requests, echoing our needs before God.
A LOOK INTO THE HEART
The Christian does not live his faith in solitude. Next to him there is a crowd, because he is supported in the Communion of Saints. This means that together with him are the brothers who travel the path of life, those who wait in Purgatory, trusting in the mercy of God and in our prayers, the saints of heaven and the angels of God. This communication is never interrupted, so our faith is constantly sustained and accompanied by this spiritual force of love that manifests itself throughout our lives.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL
Holy Archangels, I entrust myself to you especially on this first day so that you help me not to feel loneliness nor any fear; that I can affirm my faith in the immense solicitude with which the eternal God welcomes all my requests and intentions that you take to his throne of glory. I entrust my life of faith to you so that it is not overshadowed by the suggestions of the devil and the temptations of this world. Amen.
