WE ARE ALWAYS SUSTAINED IN TIMES OF TRIALS
Then he reached out and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the Lord's messenger called to him from heaven, "Abraham, Abraham!” "Yes, Lord," he answered. "Do not lay your hand on the boy,” said the messenger. "Do not do the least thing to him. I know now how devoted you are to God, since you did not withhold from me your own beloved son." (Genesis 22: 10,11).
MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT
The Lord tested Abraham's faith because he was meant to be the father of a great nation, the depository of great promises. Abraham must have returned to his house strengthened and grateful because he put all his trust in the Lord. That confidence sustained him in the moment of trial and made it possible for his faith not to falter, to judge nor doubt the word of God. And he was rewarded.
A LOOK INTO THE HEART
The Lord comes to our aid whenever we need him; he sends his angels to support us in trials and he frees us from all danger. At all times, we are reassured in our faith and confirmed in our path of giving. The heaven is not alien to everything we live; we count on its help permanently.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL
Beloved Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Rafael, I fully trust that, attentive to all that I live, you keep sending me your precious help, especially in difficult moments. Help me to walk faithfully through all that the Lord wants of me, to renounce when necessary and to place my hope in Christ, my only refuge and comfort. Amen.
End the day with:
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be.
Holy archangels, pray for us.
