OUR FAITH IS NECESSARY TO LET US BE GUIDED BY OUR ANGELS
The angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right of the altar of incense. Zechariah was troubled by what he saw, and fear came upon him. But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John. Then Zechariah said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years." And the angel said to him in reply, "I am Gabriel, who stand before God. I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news.” (Luke 1: 11-13. 18-19)
MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT
Saint Luke goes on to say that Zechariah did not believe the word of the Archangel Gabriel, so he had to wait for what had been announced to occur in order to recover his speech, because he had remained mute. We know that the Archangel Gabriel is the one who, in the Scriptures, announced in advance fundamental events in the history of salvation. Accordingly, he also announces the birth of the Forerunner of the Lord. The Lord wants us to be prepared in advance and he puts all the means at our disposal, so we must always be vigilant.
A LOOK INTO THE HEART
A faith that lets itself be done and guided will make it possible that everything God asks of us be done. If we are attentive, we can realize when he is asking us for something and preparing us to carry it out. Let us not doubt that the holy angels of the Lord are willing to help us in all circumstances to persevere in our path of faith and giving.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL
On this fourth day of the novena, I ask you to help me make an act of faith, placing my whole life in God's hands so that I can be attentive and available to receive the help that you give me day and night. Amen.
End the day with:
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Holy archangels, pray for us.
