MARY’S FAITH IN RESPONSE TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. (Luke 1: 26-27).
MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT
The account that Luke gives us of the Annunciation is complete and tells us how Mary reacted to the announcement and her response: she is disconcerted by the presence of the angel, but she does not question his words. On the contrary, once she has understood what the angel is saying and what God's will is, she gives herself up in an absolute act of faith. This fact, so unique and transcendental for our salvation, never ceases to amaze us. The Archangel's presence and his words are a true challenge to us and speak to us of Mary's attentive listening and her generous response.
A LOOK INTO THE HEART
God wants Mary to be his Mother, he wants to be incarnated in order to save us and sends the archangel Gabriel to announce this event. In our life of faith, we know that God invites us to follow him, gives us a mission and encourages us to carry it out. Let it be our Mother who inspires us with new and firm desires to serve God with our small and confident giving.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL
I beg the holy archangels, on this fifth day in which we remember the Annunciation, that I may be, like Mary, willing to give myself to God without fear and with confidence, knowing that “nothing will be impossible with God”. Amen.
End the day with:
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Holy archangels, pray for us.
