THE JOY OF SALVATION
Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord." (Luke 2: 8-11).
MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT
The Angel's words are addressed to all the people, to each man, to each one of us: they announce to us that God became Human, that he was born to save us. The message cannot be more joyful because what happened at that time is today a reality. Our faith tells us that we have already been saved and that the gates of the kingdom are open to all.
A LOOK INTO THE HEART
There can be no greater joy for the believer than to know that God is always with him, accompanying him and supporting him on his path through life. That joy, with which the angels exulted on the day of Jesus' Birth, is a reality that extends to every soul that is saved. We are not oblivious to it, we participate with our giving so that salvation may come to us and to all our brothers.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL
I entrust myself, on this sixth day, to your assistance so that you help me to have a clear awareness that Jesus has come into this world, has died and has risen for me, so that I can enjoy, when my hour comes, of the joy of a Heaven that does not cease to adore and praise him.
End the day with:
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Holy archangels, pray for us.
