THE ANGEL OF AGONY COMFORTS JESUS
After withdrawing about a stone's throw from them and kneeling, he prayed, saying, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.” And to strengthen him an angel from heaven appeared to him. (Luke 22: 41-43).
MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT
In the midst of his greatest anguish and agony, Jesus received the consolation of the angel from Heaven. What other consolation could be greater at that time for Jesus than knowing that we would be saved by his sacrifice? The angel of the Lord also comforts us in our difficult moments, gives us hope that everything makes sense in God, encourages us to be always faithful to him and to his divine will.
A LOOK INTO THE HEART
There are no moments in our life when we are not in need of God's help. For this reason, God never abandons us and He sends us the Holy Spirit to support us and guide us through his paths. But also the presence of the holy angels is the reassurance that God’s love does not depart from us. Consequently, every occasion is good to give thanks for this great help that we receive every day.
PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL
Beloved archangels Michael, Gabriel and Rafael, I strongly believe in your constant help. I ask you to help me, always and at all times, so that I never move away from God and can serve him in my path of giving every day. Help me to live in fidelity to the Gospel of love that Jesus left us so that I can live in the radical nature of love that sanctifies and saves me.
End the day with:
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
Holy archangels, pray for us.
