THE ANGEL OF THE LORD CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND ROLLED BACK THE STONE FROM THE TOMB

After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. (Matthew, 28: 1- 4).

MEDITATION ON THE BIBLICAL TEXT

For those who love God, every manifestation of his power is an immense joy, it is a supernatural light that increases faith and hope in them. The guards represent the non-believers who were frightened when they saw the angel; this was not the case with the women who would also see him. This should lead us to reflect that we ought not be surprised at the wonderful transforming work that God does in us every day. Because there is no greater prodigy than the conversion of a heart that opens to his grace.

A LOOK INTO THE HEART

On the path of giving that we travel, we can clearly see how God works in us and in others. It leads us to a clearer awareness of what God wants and expects of us and, at the same time, it predisposes us to make everything we experience bear good fruit. Because whoever loves God and gives his life to him is an instrument of his grace to bring peace and salvation to the whole world. The angel who removed the stone from the tomb of the Lord reminds us that there is no obstacle for God if we recognize ourselves as small and trust in his infinite power and mercy.

PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL, GABRIEL AND RAPHAEL

Archangels of the Lord, I ask you to accompany me throughout my life. I want to serve in the cause of the salvation of souls, being available to give myself confidently, that is why I entrust myself to your help and intercession before the throne of God.
