THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT WE RECEIVE THE GIFT OF GOD
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. (Acts 2: 1-4)
REFLECTION
The apostles met constantly to pray together while waiting for the Holy Spirit. Until suddenly, the account of the Acts tells us, with visible signs of power, the Spirit made himself present and descended on each one separately, filling them with himself and communicating his power to them. Thus, each one of the apostles became the depositary of the Spirit himself and of his grace. The disposition of the disciples of Jesus, who awaited his coming, made the prodigy possible. Thus, they received the strength that made them capable of being witnesses before all men of the Good News of salvation.
EXAM
Do I have the confidence and disposition of the apostles, who were able to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit to go out and preach and bear witness to everything that Jesus had said and taught them?
INTENTION
Through my persevering prayer and my open disposition to the Spirit, I may become a recipient of the promised gifts.
PRAYER
Holy Father, send us your Spirit, make us capable of remaining firm in hope, knowing that you are always ready to help us and support us throughout our lives. Arouse in us and in all our brothers true desires to belong to you and to receive Love, so that it lives in our hearts and thus we can receive the gift of God, which is the grace that sanctifies us. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
