PRAYER TO MARY MOTHER OF PILGRIMS
Mary, you desired to be our companion in this path of giving we live every day. We take you as our Mother of pilgrims, so that you may always walk ahead of us, opening the way for us, pointing out the goal, and giving us an example of love that is donated and offered.
We entrust ourselves to you, our sweet Mother, since we know that because of you the path is safe and we glimpse the goal without fear. Strengthen us every day in our commitment to love and offering so that we can be your instruments and serve in the cause of the salvation of souls. Amen.
Come, all you who pass by the way, look and see whether there is any suffering like my suffering (...) (Lamentations 1:12).
REFLECTION
These words from the Scriptures tell us about Mary’s heart. The pain of seeing her Son carrying the cross is so great that she feels she will faint, but she abandons herself to the Father and continues climbing to the top of Golgotha where she will see him crucified. How could our Mother have endured so much pain if she had not abandoned herself in the Father's arms? Love sustained her and so did her steadfast hope. But at that moment, she only harbored her suffering and anguish in her Heart.
INNER LOOK
Abandonment consists in letting go of everything and throwing oneself into the arms of the Father. Can I feel those open arms that welcome me? Do I let myself be comforted by him?
INTENTION
On this seventh day of the novena I make an act of abandonment in God.
PRAYER
Good and affectionate Father, welcome me on this day in your lap. I abandon myself trusting in you so that you are the maker of my whole life. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
