- We adore you, Oh Christ, ...
AS THEY LED HIM AWAY THEY TOOK HOLD OF A CERTAIN SIMON, A CYRENIAN, WHO WAS COMING IN FROM THE COUNTRY; AND AFTER LAYING THE CROSS ON HIM, THEY MADE HIM CARRY IT BEHIND JESUS. (Luke 23: 26).
It is impossible for you to go on... someone must help you carry the cross.
My Jesus, you continue to climb and the heavy cross comes behind you. Let me take my part, the one that I have to carry every day so that the weight of your cross is not so great. I want to do it by offering you everything I live, every little pain that disappears in front of yours. I want to take part in this salvific work of yours making my whole life an offering of everything I live. Yes, Jesus, I want to help you carry the cross!
Merciful Father, may the painful vision of Jesus carrying the cross on the steep road to Calvary imprint on us true desires to offer ourselves and, in this way, help our Savior carry his heavy cross, loving, giving ourselves for others and taking up our own crosses with loving acceptance, so that we may collaborate with him in the redemption of the whole world. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
