FIRST MYSTERY:
THE ANNUNCIATION
“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” (Luke 1: 30-31).
Mary, you gave yourself to God's redemptive plan with great docility and profound humility. Because you believed and accepted the announcement from God, we have all received grace in abundance. Little Mary, after the initial confusion, you completely abandoned yourself to your Lord, responding with the most absolute and perfect Yes: "May it be done." But before doing so, you declared yourself an obedient Servant of God. Thank you, our Mother, for your immense generosity. Help us know how to say yes to God's will.
SECOND MYSTERY:
THE VISITATION OF MARY TO ELIZABETH
(...) filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." (Luke 1: 41b -42).
The Holy Spirit goes ahead to present Mary as the Mother of the Redeemer by revealing to Elizabeth the precious treasure that she guarded in her womb. Thus, Elizabeth, exultant with joy, calls her the most blessed among all women.
Beloved mother, who made yourself available to your cousin, to help her and serve her, teach us to be humble and helpful to everyone too.
THIRD MYSTERY:
THE BIRTH OF JESUS
While they were there, the time came for her to have her child (...) (Luke 2: 6).
Dear mother, your little son was born in that manger on a cold night. The God of Heaven was received by some animals, while through the fields the angels of the Lord announced the birth of the Redeemer with choirs of praise. Help us, Mother, to understand that our Savior prefers a small heart to remain and rest more than anything else in the world. That by the love lived and offered we become hosts of the Eternal King.
FOURTH MYSTERY:
THE PRESENTATION IN THE TEMPLE
(...) when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God (...) (Luke 2: 27b -28a).
The first words of the prophet Simeon were beautiful and must have filled your Heart with joy, oh Mother. But immediately came the omen that announced to you the Redeemer’s painful destiny. Mother, who kept this pain until the end, assenting in everything to the will of the Father, intercede before your Son so that we can always live in the will of God knowing that he remains with us in trials.
FIFTH MYSTERY:
THE FINDING OF JESUS IN THE TEMPLE
(...) but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. (Luke 2: 45).
The one who had been lost was the Son of the Most High God. With how much anguish you and Joseph must have looked for him when they didn't see him in the caravan on the way back home. At that very important moment, Jesus had responded to his Father's requests. Your silence, Mary, is eloquent; you knew how to be a careful and attentive mother, and now you find yourself bewildered. Understanding who Jesus was must have been the school in which you learned to fulfill the Father's designs. Be, Mother, our guide and teacher so that we can safely walk the path of giving and offering entrusted to you.
