The Holy Spirit is our promise
INTRODUCTION
We prepare to live nine days united to the Holy Spirit, who guides us in his task of sanctifying us. In this itinerary of our existence, he leads us to the knowledge of the work of the Love of God in our life and to the living experience of active love with which he prepares us to be for him throughout eternity.
FIRST DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OUR PROMISE
He (Jesus) presented himself alive to them by many proofs after he had suffered, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While meeting with them, he enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for "the promise of the Father about which you have heard me speak; for John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." (Acts 1: 1-5).
SECOND DAY
THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT WE RECEIVE THE GIFT OF GOD
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. (Acts 2: 1-4)
THIRD DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT ANIMATES US TO BE WITNESSES TO THE TRUTH IN THE WORLD
“And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and enable your servants to speak your word with all boldness, as you stretch forth (your) hand to heal, and signs and wonders are done through the name of your holy servant Jesus." As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4: 29-31)
FOURTH DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS IN THE WORLD WITH GREAT POWER
Yet more than ever, believers in the Lord, great numbers of men and women, were added to them. Thus they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on one or another of them. (Acts 5:14-15)
FIFTH DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT SUSTAINS US AND HELPS US
The church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria was at peace. It was being built up and walked in the fear of the Lord, and with the consolation of the holy Spirit it grew in numbers. (Acts 9:31)
SIXTH DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS POURED OUT ON THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM
While Peter was still speaking these things, the holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the word. The circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were astounded that the gift of the holy Spirit should have been poured out on the Gentiles also. (Acts 10:44-45)
SEVENTH DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT REMAINS IN US
The hand of the Lord was with them and a great number who believed turned to the Lord. The news about them reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas (to go) to Antioch. When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord in firmness of heart. (Acts 11: 21-23)
EIGHTH DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES US THE GIFT OF CONFIDENCE
So they (Pablo and Barnabas) stayed for a considerable period, speaking out boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the word about his grace by granting signs and wonders to occur through their hands. (Acts 14:3)
NINTH DAY
THE HOLY SPIRIT COMPLETES HIS WORK IN US
And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you and your household will be saved." So they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to everyone in his house. He took them in at that hour of the night and bathed their wounds; then he and all his family were baptized at once. He brought them into his house and provided a meal and with his household rejoiced at having come to faith in God. (Acts 16:31-34)
